Description
This is a narrow, low volume last that fits C or D width feet. If you're unsure about sizing - please contact us before ordering these boots. We're friendly.
If you have a tall instep or E width or wider feet - these boots will not fit you.
We will release Hi Liners on the CN WIDE last in Nov/Dec 2021, which will fit E width feet.
The leather on these boots is a vegetable-tanned Latigo from Wickett & Craig (check out the process here). This process is time-intensive, and takes far longer than a chrome-tan, but the results are worth the weight. The hides are brought to Japan for hand-dying and finishing. The High Liners start as dark-greenish black color and eventually wear down to a brownish green color from this hand-dying process.
There are 6 eyelets, 6 speedhooks, and a final pair of eyelets to lock everything in place on these boots. They sit on a reproduction O'Sullivan heel with grooved rubber topy sitting on a channeled leather sole. The channeling is done by hand, and prevents premature wear on the stitching that holds the sole to the welt.
The rest of the materials are of equally high quality. Brass hardware, welts, and nails all come from Japan; the soling leathers come from the best tanneries in the world; and the heels are custom-made just for Clinch.
Built on the CN-S last (Classic Narrow Second), which is a narrow, low volume last with a snug, secure fit throughout. The shape is sleek, with a very low (almost flat) profile and completely unstructured toe.
Most modern lasts are optimized for mass-production. Wider, straighter, easier to pump through a production line, and easier to fit every single person into. Clinch's Classic Narrow (CN) and Classic Narrow Second (CN-S) have a snug fit that cradles your foot like a warm glove - much like the lasts of the early 20th century.

We will release Hi Liners on the CN WIDE last in Nov/Dec 2021, which will fit E width feet and higher volume D width feet.
For a snug fit, take one half size smaller than your Brannock size if you have C or D width feet.
If you prefer a roomier fit, take your Brannock size.
If you have wide feet (true E or wider) or D width feet and a tall instep, these boots will not fit you.
