Wonder Looper was founded by industry veterans Risa Saito and Bazad Trinos of Naked & Famous denim (among other projects). With a focus on knitwear, they produce some of the best cotton knits on the market, manufacturing all of their products entirely in Japan from start to finish. Their pieces are a stellar blend of interesting, unique fabrics and high quality vintage construction details, with excellent fits that lean more true-to-size for Western audiences as well.
An exceptionally high-quality rendition of your favorite classic terry sweatshirt, Wonder Looper didn't reinvent the wheel here. Cut with raglan shoulders, it features their usual, ribbed knit hem, cuffs, and side panels for maximum comfort and mobility. The collar is made with a thick ribbed binder knit, and includes the classic vintage "dorito" triangle for additional durability and moisture-wicking.
It's finished with flat seam construction for a clean exterior and increased longevity, and sewn up with tonal thread to not overcomplicate an already classic design. The fit is athletic, neither loose nor slim — with a slightly extended torso and a "natural" cut that sits close to the body without ever feeling snug or restrictive, leaving plenty of room to move.
The fabric is really special — produced in Wakayama, Japan on tubular knitting machines that are a little different (slightly more modern and mechanically distinct to) than a loopwheeler. It's one of the heaviest (if not the very heaviest) knits we've ever stocked: clocking in at an impressive 876gsm, or about 25.8oz. This is roughly twice as heavy as the average "heavyweight" knit, and you can immediately tell when handling one of these. The fabric is substantial, thick and surprisingly weighty for a hoodie (a size medium weighs just about 3lbs), but exceptionally comfortable and immediately pleasant to wear, requiring no break-in.
Knit with 100% cotton yarns, the fabric is a low gauge French terry with a slightly irregular face texture and soft, dry hand. The loops on the inside are relatively large, dense and plush throughout, it feels great on bare skin and layers comfortably with other garments.
Fits true to size with a classic fit. Wash cold on delicate and lay flat to dry.
