W'Menswear was founded by Lauren Yates in 2015, born out of a desire to produce high-quality, heritage-inspired garments for women — with a nuanced and ever-evolving perspective on femininity at the intersections of fashion, workwear, military garments, and history. Originally operating out of a converted shipping container in Bangkok, the brand has grown substantially with each new collection, employing specialty and custom fabrics as well as partnering with local workshops and artisans.
The Spring/Summer 2025 collection is titled "Spinning For A Revolution," and draws inspiration from early women's cycling apparel, suffragette cyclists from the late 1800s, and the writings of Dervla Murphy — whose stories detailed her solo bicycle journey from Ireland to India in the early '60s. Following its invention, women began to enjoy unexpected new freedom through bicycle travel, allowing them to access social spheres and spaces outside of the home, and freeing them from the restrictive dress norms of the era.
The Bloomer Jacket was inspired by Annie Londonderry, a cyclist pioneer who broke conventions by riding around the world in 1894. With heavy influences from 19th-century tailoring, it's cut with a cropped and shaped body, wide curved sleeves, and a lot of buttons. The collarless fit layers easily, and the cropped design sits comfortably whether you're standing, seated, or even laying down.
It's made from an heirloom cotton that is entirely grown, hand-spun, and hand-woven by an experienced women-led cooperative in Sakon Nakhon, Thailand. It's a solid and noticeably high-quality textile, with natural cotton "neps" visible throughout the tightly-textured weave and a pleasant heft that sits comfortably on the body. Over time, it will continue to relax and break-in, taking the shape of your body as you wear it.
Fits true to size with a cropped fit. Wash cold and hang dry.
