Product details
Produced in Japan by Warehouse & Co, John Gluckow garments are designed in collaboration with John Gluckow himself, a long time industry veteran and respected vintage collector. Each piece is functionally familiar but stylistically unique - not interested in simply replaying the hits, John finds weird, funky, and obscure styles that nobody else is making and rebuilds them to the highest quality.
The 1904 Waist Overalls are a reproduction of Sweet Orr & Co.'s award-winning work trouser from the 1904 World's Fair in St. Louis, Missouri (also known as the Louisiana Purchase Exhibition). Much closer to the modern 5-pocket jean than its 3-pocket waist overall ancestors, the originals took home the prize for their exceptional durability and consciously designed details - from the slightly angled rear pockets to the extensive rivet reinforcements.
They've got a classic old school work fit, with a high rise and straight legs - the back rise / yoke are extended for a more comprehensive fit through the seat, featuring a buckle back and split waistband for maximum comfort. Like other waist overalls, there are no belt loops, instead using heavy copper buttons for suspenders to attach to (hence the "overalls" in the name).
Made out of 6x6 (yarn count) 14.5oz selvedge denim woven from single-source Memphis cotton, it's about as genuine as American denim gets. It's left raw, completely unwashed and untreated, and cut large with the intention of shrinking the fabric to tag size during the first wash. Stiff and sturdy, it will relax substantially with time, breaking in and softening with wear additionally developing unique fades.
Closing up with a tall button fly, the custom black and gold label is sewn into the side of the waistband, another nod to the original Sweet Orr & Co. trousers that inspired these.
Fits true to size. RAW FABRIC, will shrink as much as one full size upon washing. Wash cold and hang dry.
