At long last, Freenote has a proprietary denim that's here to stay. Developed by Freenote and produced by Kaihara Mills in Japan, this is a 100% cotton, indigo-dyed 14.5oz Japanese selvedge denim. Woven at high tension, the outer warp threads feature a dark indigo dye, while the mostly obscured inner weft threads are white - giving the jeans an especially dark appearance initially, but leading to more dramatic fading as the white threads start to become visible beneath the indigo.
Our best-selling Freenote fit of all time, the Portola was developed, in part, with our feedback. It has a comfortable mid rise, with a roomy top block and athletic thighs, with a flattering taper from the knee down. These are the sort of tapered fit that work for almost anyone, and even years later they continue to be a shop favorite.
The rest of the details are exactly what we've come to expect from Freenote: custom copper hardware, Japanese herringbone pocket bags, tonal "antique gold" selvedge ticker and all custom labels (woven and leather). Construction-wise there are no surprises either, with durable flat-felled seams and Freenote's signature 1/8" double needle stitching accents keeping the whole thing held together.
