W'Menswear was founded by Lauren Yates in 2015, born out of a desire to produce high quality, heritage-inspired garments for women - with a nuanced and ever-evolving perspective on femininity at the intersections of fashion, workwear, military garments, and history. Originally operating out of a converting shipping container in Bangkok, the brand has grown substantially with each new collection, employing specialty and custom fabrics as well as partnering with local workshops & artisans.
The 2024 collection, titled Diesel Fueled Defiance, is inspired by women who were on the forefront of automobile racing during the Civil Rights movements of the 1960s. Facing down particularly fierce and widespread sexist sentiments, these women brought about advancement for all women through their relentless pursuit of speed and the feeling of adventure.
The Wendy Trousers are a simple, straight leg, four pocket denim jean done the W'Menswear way - with outstanding construction, a great fit, and a stellar fabric. Cut with a high rise and wide, straight legs, they're a perfect relaxed fit, with a simplified yokeless construction that uses darts for shaping through the waist.
It's made from a really unique Japanese denim fabric with a dark indigo warp (the outer yarns of the weave) and a reflective gold weft (the inner yarns of the weave). It's a solid cotton denim that isn't super stiff, softening after a wash and breaking in fairly quickly with wear. It will develop extremely unique high contrast gold fades in high wear areas over time, as the indigo wears away to reveal the gold core.
