Description
In addition to playing the hits (N-1 Deck Jackets, Buco J-24Ls, Lot 001 Denim...etc.) The Real McCoy's are also fans of a good deep cut. The Submarine Jacket are exactly that, an obscure and very rare piece of vintage military apparel that is more than deserving of the light of day.
The US Navy Submarine Jacket, officially the "Coat, Winter, Woolen," was a short heavy wool coat issued to submariners and designed for use in confined and cold submarines. The jacket stands out as a rare US military issued uniform of the era in black. Though officially adopted in 1941, variations of the jacket can be seen on submariners as early as the mid 1930s.
The jacket is made from an extremely thick double layer wool herringbone, which is almost impossible to see beneath the hairy, fuzzy texture of the fabric's face. This stiff wool will relax and break in over time, and with wear, the herringbone pattern of the fabric will become more prominent. It features two large patch pockets along with a high stand collar and functional chin strap.
