Description

The Real McCoy's C-1 Vest is a highly functional and exceptional-quality reproduction of the "TYPE C-1 VEST, EMERGENCY SUSTENANCE" — a late WWII piece of military wear that primarily saw use in the Pacific theatre. It was designed to be worn over several other layers, including the A-2, with storage for everything a soldier could need. Production on these only ran in the final year of WWII, but their functionality kept them in service all the way into the Vietnam War era.

It's a single-size style, so you don't have to worry about figuring out fit. The front placket is fairly standard, with 3-buttons and a collarless neck, but the back is less standard, also being cut open like the front, with three ties that can be used to adjust the fit and close the back. It's got an impressive 16 pockets, with the items intended for storage stamped onto each one, so you don't forget where to keep your rations, ammunition, cigarettes, or grenades — one of them is technically a holster for a .45 caliber M1911 handgun, but you could definitely use it for other things.

It's made from a lightweight cotton/rayon blend fabric, with 100% cotton thread stitching and tonal urea buttons. The narrow-weave face is thin, yet durable; hard wearing without being heavy and trapping in head, with very little drape due to the structure and tightness of the weave. Soft to the touch, it slides easily over other fabrics thanks to the rayon content, and has a very subtle shine across the face that's most visible on close inspection.
