Product details
Originally standardized as a Summer flying jacket in 1927, the A-1 was the first flight jacket to utilize a knit waist and cuffs, a style that would go on to define the flight jacket silhouette for generations to come. Lighter, slimmer, and lacking the wool or sheepskin lining of cold weather flight jackets, it would eventually be superseded by the A-2 jacket in 1931 - yet another iconic flight jacket from the early 20th century.
The sheep leather body is not a shearling leather, clocking in at 1.5mm thick, it's soft and supple with a tight grain texture and gentle shine throughout. Requiring almost no break in, it's a solid black leather that will age slowly and subtly, developing a very gentle patina but taking the shape of the wearer's body almost immediately. Inside, it's lined with an olive green cotton twill, giving a solid balance of comfort and warmth.
Featuring 100% wool trims, the collar, hem, and cuffs are knit from soft but dry yarns that keep the silhouette comfortably fitted at the openings. It's got two utility pockets on the front, both of which close up with tonal corozo buttons — same with the placket and stand collar, which can be open and down for a more casual vibe.
