Description
These Camouflage Shorts are some of our favorite this seasons, perfect for anyone not quite sold on shorter-shorts, these are intentionally big, with a more vintage vibe than a tacti-cool one. Featuring a high rise and two full (short) legs, they've got two large flap pockets, one on each thigh with more than enough room for all your things.
Known commonly as "Frogskin" or "Duck Hunter" camouflage, the iconic reversible military pattern was originally labeled as just "Camouflage," as this was the one of the very first tactical prints ever employed by the US Military, entering service in 1942. Though ultimately short-lived as a combat fabric, the design became immensely popular after surplus garments reached civilian markets, and remains an iconic style even today, more than 80 years later.
Made from 100% cotton, the fabric is a sturdy medium-weight herringbone twill, with a green-based "forest" side on one face, and a brown-based "desert" side on the other. We would like to clarify as well, that while the garment is called "Reversible," that refers to the fabric itself, "reversible frogskin," rather than meaning these are reversible shorts. You absolutely can reverse the fabric, but all the buttons and pockets will be facing inwards and more difficult to access, just be aware.
Though initially slightly stiff, the fabric will break in considerably over time, developing a much softer and more fluid drape like other herringbone fabrics as it wears in and relaxes into the shape of the wearer's body. The print is applied with period-accurate methods, and will fade quickly from sunlight, washing, and wear, developing a much lighter and more "desaturated" tone akin to the vintage originals.
Everything is sewn up with 100% cotton thread, and the fly + pockets close up with civilian "Economy" metal buttons, a mark of quality, as only capable makers would be able to produce buttons with such thin tops and curved stems.
