Description
This is Motiv's interpretation of the iconic double-breasted Brigadier coat, with a slightly more relaxed fit that's a bit more comfortable and casual, as well as less heavy-duty than a more classic take on the style. It's tailored beautifully, with a subtle construction that double-faces the fabric throughout, effectively doubling the weight of the body, resulting in a completely clean interior and a more robust drape through the body. It's cut with four external pockets for storage, all of which feature flap covers and button closures for additional security.
The placket closes up with an impressive two rows of chunky tonal jacket buttons, allowing you to wear the placket open or completely sealed for additional warmth and protection from the elements. The back features a unique half-belt construction that enhances the fit and silhouette through the body, but can be worn open for a more relaxed and casual overall fit. Neither full length nor standard, it's cut with a 3/4 length body, not unlike classic car coats — long enough to keep you comfortable with encumbering you.
It's made from a really plush double-face wool/linen tweed from Lovat Mills in the UK. Featuring a pronounced twill-like texture across its face, it blends rich blue and dark black yarns for an overall deep-navy tone throughout. The mix of wool and linen really excels here, holding in heat well but still breathing, allowing you to regulate your temperature easily and without needing to constantly change your layers. It's also pretty soft for a tweed, comfortable enough to wear on bare skin, though that's unlikely given the size of this garment and the fact that the sleeves are fully-lined with an extremely soft cupro.
