Description
The Mirage Jacket is based on mid-century French aviation uniforms, with an asymmetrical placket, rounded collar, and a slightly-cropped body length that was more atypical for aviation jackets of the era. Motiv's features a covered button placket, with a zipper and snap closure at the hem, roomy sleeves with triangular cuff adjusters, and two spacious welted hand pockets with snap closures, as well as internal pockets for additional storage, and a covert drawstring around the "waist" of the jacket to further customize the silhouette.
The design and construction are exactly what we're come to expect from Motiv — tonal corduroy trims, a clean-finish interior, and a hidden chinstrap under the collar all really help elevate things, making for an excellent everyday jacket that can easily be dressed up or worn casually. It's lined through the body and sleeves as well, to make for easier layering and to help keep you warm when you close this up.
The fabric is also extremely special, modeled after an antique swatch of Dutch fabric that was favored by fisherman in the early 1900s. This new version was produced custom at one of China's very best linen weavers, in Shenzhen, using a blend of linen and wool in a shaggy herringbone. It's plush, comfortable, hairy, and warm, with a repeatedly-washed finish to replicate "years of wear at sea" and substantially soften the fabric before you even put it on.
