Product details
The name and inspiration for these shirts come from an ill-fated blueberry foraging trip that Michael took up in Maine. As he tells it, he imagined a pleasant time strolling around, plucking berries - but instead found himself in a crowd of hundreds, everyone angrily competing for the few blueberries that could be found.
They're absolutely jam-packed with details, just as expected, like the horizontal button holes, to help withstand friction during extended wear, a vintage detail taken from utility shirts of the late 19th century. There are 11 thread changes through each shirt, using nine differing shades of blue, as well as red and purple thread.
The fabric is an indigo dyed 4.5oz selvedge sashiko jacquard fabric from Kuroki Mills in Japan. Lightweight and incredibly soft, the indigo dye in the fabric will fade over time with wear and washes. Lining the yoke and collar is an original graphic by Noor Gentry-Masterson, as well as just a bit of lace (so you know it's classy).
The fit is extremely dialed in, with a comfortably (not roomy or slim) chest, full long sleeves, and with a cut long enough to wear both tucked and untucked (and not have it look weird or come untucked too easily). We would describe these are fitting true to size, and we expect fairly negligible shrinkage with a cold wash and hang dry.
Held together with french seams and extremely high stitch-per-inch sewing, it's one of our most elevated shirts currently in our lineup. The whole thing closes up with custom made tonal chalk machine buttons, which Masterson sews on individually by hand.
Fits true to size. Minimal shrinkage expected with cold wash and hang dry.
