Description
Trophy Clothing is a brand you should know about. Founded in 2006 by Mr. Masaki Egawa, it's a label that focuses on sartorial deep cuts — textiles, construction methods, and details that fly over the heads or under the radar of the average consumer. While many of Japan's most famous denim brands focus on strict reproductions of mainstream styles from the last century, Trophy Clothing instead focuses on capturing garments that don't exist anywhere else, borrowing silhouettes and embellishments from small, obscure, and now-extinct denim & workwear manufacturers from years past.
The designs are deeply inspired by vintage motorcycle apparel and casualwear from the last few decades rather than strictly workwear, and fit more easily into a modern wardrobe without looking too old-timey or like a costume. These are not mass-produced styles, with garments that frequently employ challenging tailoring details that contemporary brands might think of as "outdated" or "inefficient." Every style makes use of custom fabrics, trims, and antique machines to create a product that is wholly-superior to mainstream apparel, regardless of effort or time taken.
The Lot.2405 Jacket is Trophy's take on the classic storm rider jacket, with a similarly-modified Type III jacket silhouette and design, but left unlined and featuring a denim collar instead of the classic corduroy. It's cut fairly cropped, with an old-school shape that looks great with a high rise trouser, as well as two chest pockets for storage and button adjusters at the hips to bring in the waist (if you want).
It's made from a RAW and UNSANFORIZED (aka Shrink-to-Fit) left hand twill denim that will shrink down to tag size after the first wash. Most people will still want to go true to size here, but we recommend checking our measurements before you order — the chest and shoulders should look and fit large while the jacket is still unwashed, coming in to a more appropriate fit after the initial soak.
Woven with 100% cotton yarns, this comfortably medium-weight left hand twill denim is surprisingly comfortable right out the gate, even while still raw and unwashed. The vast, vast majority of denim is the world is a "right hand twill," meaning the fabric is woven in the same direction as the clockwise-twisted weft yarns, while left hand twill is woven in the opposite direction, creating a fabric that is noticeably softer and less rigid than a comparable right hand twill denim. It also fades slightly differently over time, in this case, more authentically, as Lee generally used left hand twill denim for some of their most famous styles over the years.
The trims are worth mentioning as well: custom patinated buttons, a leather neck tag, and a trophy clothing keychain really help bring everything together, the final and important touches on a fantastic jacket that will only get better with time.
