Description
Based out of Japan's Iwate Prefecture, one of the northernmost provinces, Gorsch was born into a quiet rural life, taking inspiration from antique German tailoring and early proto-workwear. The garments are beautifully constructed, frequently making use of deadstock vintage textiles, with tailored silhouettes and unisex styling.
Gorsch's Spring/Summer '26 collection is part 1 of their 14th release "season" — inspired by dancer and "movement artist" Ken Sakagami, a friend of the brand from nearby Morioka City. The styles and fabrics are really understated, with simple colors and subtle textures throughout, selected for drape and comfort rather than visuals, then cut into relaxed and flowing silhouettes that move beautifully with the wearer.
Gorsch's Easy Trousers are among our very favorite takes on the style, with an elasticated drawstring waistband and a one-size design that make them a quintessential unisex piece. They've got a relaxed fit, with a wide leg that tapers a tiny bit below the knee, a high rise, and a slightly dropped crotch. The construction blends minimalism with thoughtful details, like the single "belt loop" on the front that a keychain could be attached to, the cotton internal linings, and the pull-on top block with no fly.
For storage, they've got a classic four pockets, two at the hips for your hands, and two welted rear pockets with button closures. The pocket bags and waistband are lined with a soft 100% cotton fabric for extra comfort and durability, while the legs are unlined to prevent excess insulation. The one size waist measures fairly wide, but can be cinched in with the woven internal drawstring, allowing for a comfortable and secure fit at all times.
This run is made from a really beautiful 100% linen broken twill fabric with a remarkably-soft hand and a flattering natural drape. Rather than being woven in a single direction (leftward or rightward), broken twill is an alternating zig-zag weave that prevents the fabric from twisting over time, making for an excellent trouser fabric, keeping the shape and leg creases consistent over time. It's very comfortable to the touch, and breathes well too, making for a great warm-weather trouser.
Fits true to size. Wash cold on delicate settings (or by hand) with like colors and a mild (linen-friendly) detergent, then hang dry — or dry clean.
