Like so many of our favorite brands, Attractions was born from an appreciation of vintage clothing. Originally founded in 2006, Attractions began as a vintage reseller, importing pieces from the United States and UK before starting their own production in 2011. Their experience in the vintage world provided them with the knowledge and inspiration necessary to develop their own styles, growing into an impressive and unique brand in a market saturated with alternatives.
With a deliberate focus on highly specific and often obscure styles from the last hundred years, Attractions produce some truly stellar and unique pieces, occupying a stylistic wheelhouse closely adjacent to "biker" but plainly distinct from other similar repro brands. Inspired by the progression of youth culture and style, Attractions infuse their own unique perspective into both the pieces they design and the ways they design them.
Run by a small team, Attractions produce (relatively) tight collections with fewer styles than many other brands, and outsource the logistical aspects of production to specifically selected factories around Japan. The reduced strain from not having to wrangle production allows Attractions to prioritize development, releasing exceptional styles in materials that can't be found anywhere else.
The Cowboy Boots are a unique Western style roper/engineer boot with a low heel and narrow belt vamp. They have a unique upper construction, with more vintage-inspired paneling through the heel, as well as a slender vamp extension above the belt and a completely flat leg opening. The silhouette is surprisingly dressy and elegant, with a narrow welt and high density contrast welt stitching, as well as rubber topy half sole that maintains the profile of a leather outsole, but with more reliable traction and durability.
They're made on Attractions' A004 Jubilee Last, which they call a "D-width dress last". We'd agree, as these have a very sleek shape, tastefully rounded through the toe and fitted through the heel and waist. The belt across the front can be used to snug up the fit across the top of your instep, and closes up with an original beryllium buckle.
They're made from a beautiful vegetable-tanned horsehide leather with an attractive shine and subtle grain texture throughout. Vegetable-tanning is a slow organic process that turns hides into leather through the use of bark & plant tannins and oils instead of industrial chemicals or heavy metals. The end result is generally a stiffer leather that can be best characterized by its remarkable break-in, as vegetable tanned leather will relax dramatically over time, moulding to the shape of the wearer's foot and gait.
