Product details
Kapital's Century Denim is one of their signature fabrics- a completely proprietary Sashiko topstitched denim available in a variety of unique patterns and dye combinations. Sashiko (literally "little stabs") is a form of stitching that was initially utilized functionally to repair or reinforce damaged fabric, eventually growing popular for decorative purposes as well.
The specific weaving process to create this denim is one of Kapital's trade secrets, but we do know that it's produced in a single pass, with the fabric being made on one loom (rather than several). Woven with 100% cotton yarns, it's stiffer than other denim fabrics of comparable weight thanks to the topstitching, requiring a bit more wear before fully breaking in. Though it is sanforized (essentially, treated for shrinkage), it comes raw and unwashed, and will shrink very slightly, between 1-3% overall after washing the first time.
The Century Denim 1st Jacket is a classic Type-1 with all the correct details - pleated front, a single flap-closure chest pocket, buckle back with large gussets, and custom metal hardware with rivet reinforcements. It's got a stellar fit, with a slightly cropped body and relaxed chest that pairs spectacularly with medium and high rise jeans.
Three different types of indigo go into this particular century denim: American Indigo (No. 1, in Kapital's lingo), Japanese Indigo (No. 2), and Natural Indigo (No. 3). Each of the yarns - warp, weft, and sashiko - are rope-dyed with one indigo for maximum fading potential, and each Indigo will fade differently over time. It also has the ability to bleed about 3 times as much indigo as the average denim jacket of this size, so be aware of crocking and dye transfer, especially early on.
Fits true to size. Wash cold and hang dry.
