Product details
Déborah Sitbon Neuberg founded De Bonne Facture to create purposeful clothing made with transparency and sustainability in mind. The line showcases small ateliers, primarily throughout France, but additionally around a few other parts of Europe — each one specializing in the product they craft. The line is nostalgic, reverential towards well made and well-worn menswear classics, and leaning into a more casual aesthetic for their beautifully-tailored designs.
De Bonne Facture take sustainability extremely seriously, with a design philosophy that relies on five pillars — "garment durability, atelier traceability, fabric provenance, the ecological impact of our supply chain, and the preservation of industrial know-hows". Their garments are built to last, using high end materials that will improve with time as they wear in, developing unique character with time.
The Cardigan Jacket is an elegant evening jacket with a cropped robe-like silhouette, somewhere between a blazer and a cardigan. It's got a large shawl collar, with two front hand pockets and a removable belt closure. The fit is relaxed, with a roomy torso and two slightly dropped shoulders, giving a more slouchy and natural silhouette, usually worn open as the front lacks any buttons.
It's made from a 100% wool check crepe fabric, with a beautiful texture and brown plaid design. The wool itself is sourced from Uruguay, then woven into fabric in Italy — it's features's the EU's REACH certification, ensuring the fabric is completely free of chemicals or materials that may be harmful to humans or the environment. The sheep who grow the wool are raised WITHOUT Mulesing, an agricultural practice that involves removing a large chunk of wool-growing skin from the sheep's hindquarters to reduce risk of a pest infection called flystrike.
It's immediately soft and comfortable, with a slightly shaggy texture and no lining inside, making for an excellent indoor jacket. It's produced by the atelier of Mr. Erbas in Pantin, France.
