Description
Gathering is a new addition to our lineup, first arriving at S&S in the later half of the Spring/Summer '26 season, with the initial drop landing at our Berkeley & NYC stores before making it to our website shortly after. It's a more obscure brand, hard to find information on and even harder to find in person, so we're glad to have Gathering on our shelves, and hope you'll have a chance to handle it personally, as we feel their styles are much easier to understand when they can be tried on and touched.
As Gathering themselves tell it, their primary project is textile research, work they're completing through garment production and "buttonology" — put more plainly, they're developing completely custom natural fabrics at small mills and local producers around the world, then finishing their garments with custom and bespoke trims to make pieces that are truly unlike anyone else. Based out of London, they don't limit themselves to sourcing from a singular specific nation or region, instead seeking out artisans across Africa, Asia, and anywhere else that small batch and hand-loomed organic fabrics can be made.
The Beekeeper Jacket is a relaxed "workwear" jacket, with a collarless silhouette and two massive forager pockets with drawstring closures for your hands. There's an additional side entry pocket built into the placket, for additional storage that's also more accessible (especially when the hand pockets are tied shut), though slightly less spacious. The body is relaxed, with a roomy torso and dropped shoulders that give a very slouchy and casual silhouette.
It's made from a rough-looking hemp canvas fabric with a highly-irregular texture as a result of being handwoven. To keep the whole thing more comfortable, it's been fully-lined with a 100% organic cotton, a soft and lightweight interior that feels great on bare skin without trapping heat in, keeping this comfortable even in warmer temperatures. Over time, the hemp will continue to break in and relax, darkening slightly, and forming creases and grooves that match how the jacket is worn.
