Since 2006, Mountain Research has been delivering some of the best outdoor wear around – both in style and function. The brainchild of Japanese designer Kobayashi Setsumasa, the brand has a singular focus on outdoor life without falling into any of any stereotypical ravines of the style. Kobayashi takes inspiration from the golden age of outdoor wear, military and naval designs, as well as modern mountaineering gear. Altogether, it refers to itself as ‘Anarcho Mountaineers.’

The Mountain Research take on a more tailored jacket but still with a utilitarian outdoorsy bent. The 2B jacket is cut shorter than most sports coats with patch pockets and a single button sleeve cuff. It is also unlined for a more casual drape.

Made from a 100% merino wool in a muted Prince of Wales Check. Merino wool is ideal for outdoor wear, lightweight, insulating while still breathable, and quick drying too. It matches the MT Trousers — Make a suit!

The jacket has three open patch pockets. It also features an internal buttoned strap that keeps the jacket from getting blown around while allowing you to unbutton the front.

True to size with a relaxed fit. Hand wash cold and hang dry or dry clean.
