Black Sign call this garment a "faithful reproduction" of a 1930s sports jacket - Sportswear in this case referring to casual clothing, garments that were neither workwear nor formalwear. It's an absolutely beautiful two-tone garment, with an intricately tailored back: featuring an adjustable half belt, an exaggerated western yoke, and a large inverted box pleat for additional ease of movement.
It's got a classic fit, with a not-quite-cropped body and a relaxed chest, closing up with tonal Tagwa palm nut buttons. The front features two roomy bucket pockets, with more than enough room for your hands and a few other objects, cut from the black wool fabric to contrast and overlay the plaid panels behind them.
There's a lot of fabric in this thing. The all-black material is a fine textured melton wool fabric, making up the sleeves, placket, back, collar, and pockets. The front of the jacket uses an alpaca blend shadow plaid, with a slightly stiffer and rougher texture, while the inside of the body is lined in 100% cotton flannel. Finally, the sleeves use a 100% polyester fabric for their lining, keeping them smooth and allowing for easier layering.
