MATiAS pieces fall somewhere between avant-garde and vintage workwear, into the realm of "post-heritage" - where the techniques and materials of the past intersect with new ideas and original styles. Designed and manufactured in-house at their LA workshop, MATiAS produce some of the best fits we've experienced, with subtle and sometimes unusual tailoring details, employed deliberately to perfect drape, enhance comfort, & compliment their remarkable fabric choices.
The Thorley pant is a somewhat slim, moderately tapered four pocket pant with an easy drawstring waist and single-panel construction - cut with a single seam on each leg, shaping darts in the front and back, no yoke, and a cleanly finished interior. The waistband is its own piece, and contains a black woven drawstring that can be used to adjust the fit on the fly.
Cut with two comfortable hand pockets inspired by the hand pockets on jeans but with a twist (literally, the fabric is sewn in a twist at the entrance to the pockets) and two classic bucket pockets on the back, they've got all the usual amount of space for your goods. The hardware is all serious too - with tonal rivets reinforcing key areas, and a zip fly with a custom patinated button and toggle closure.
They're made from a 9oz indigo dyed dobby cloth from Japan, that will fade over time with wear and washing. This textured Kendo fabric features a sashiko-like face, and has been rinsed once to account for initial shrinkage and softness. Because this is an indigo-dyed garment, we suggest only washing it with other indigo garments, and being mindful early on of crocking / bleeding from the dye.
Fits true to size with an adjustable waistband. Cold wash and hang dry or spot clean.
