Since its founding 2001, designer Hiroki Nakamura's Visvim has built an extremely dedicated cult following. With a laser focus on crafting unique and high quality "future vintage" garments, Visvim has gained international acclaim over the past two decades for their unique perspective and exceptional design.
Not limited strictly to workwear or couture, they produce Folkwear, inspired by regional and historical manufacturing techniques from mud-dyeing to crocheting, with collections that build off of each previous year and develop holistically, season after season.
Note: as with almost all Visvim footwear, the texture of the leather used may vary drastically from pair to pair, as hides are cut to maximize use of unique and interesting grain - as such, no two pairs are exactly alike, and the appearance of your pair may differ slightly than those pictured here.
These are a proper Visvim style engineer boot, with a classic silhouette, elegant handmade construction, and a combination of unique leather textures across their many panels. They've got everything we look for in an engineer boot, from the dialed-in pull on fit to the hefty horsehide uppers - immediately unique and gorgeous, the leather promises to only get better with time
They're made from an absolutely beautiful Italian vegetable-tanned horsehide, with an abundance of unique grain texture and tonal variance. It's thick, heavy, and waxy, requiring a little time to break in but moulding into the shape of your foot over time for maximum comfort. Various different panels of each boot use differently textured horsehide leathers, giving them a subtle patchwork effect.
They stand on the classic Dainite outsole and heel combo, a low profile outsole that's very well loved for its blend of comfort, traction, and sleekness. They "close up" with solid brass buckles at the shaft and across the instep, like any good pair of engineer boots.
