Product details
Since its founding 2001, designer Hiroki Nakamura's Visvim has built an extremely dedicated cult following. With a laser focus on crafting unique and high quality "future vintage" garments, Visvim has gained international acclaim over the past two decades for their unique perspective and exceptional design.
Not limited strictly to workwear or couture, they produce Folkwear, inspired by regional and historical manufacturing techniques from mud-dyeing to crocheting, with collections that build off of each previous year and develop holistically, season after season.
One of their most iconic styles, Visvim's Virgil Boots are a perfect example of their ethos in action. Handsome and powerful even before you put them on, their character is immediately apparent, and will continue to grow and develop with wear. They're exceptionally comfortable, with soft leather uppers, a plush Vibram sole, and the signature TPU heel stabilizer.
Made from a vegetable tanned French calfskin, the leather features a surface level black dye and brown tea core, with subtle hand-patinated sections that will become more prominent over time, as the leather wears in. Calfskin leathers are both dense and supple, requiring little time or effort to break-in and softening (even more) with wear.
They're just as impressive internally as they are aesthetically, with an undyed natural leather lining, full cork and leather insole, and plush EVA midsole. Like the uppers, they break-in quickly, with all these internal details forming to the shape of your foot as you wear them. Like any good pair of boots, these are built with a fully recraftable 270 degree goodyear welt, that can be maintained or rebuilt by any skilled cobbler.
The trims are unsurprisingly also stellar, from the multiple rows of extremely precise, high-SPI (that's stitches-per-inch) sewing across the uppers, to the solid brass eyelets and speedhooks (5 and 3, respectively), to the waxed cotton laces and woven Visvim labels sewn into the tongue - nothing has been forgotten or neglected.
Fits true to Brannock size for the best fit. Additional fit info available in the sizing tab.
