The designs are inspired by what we'd call \"working wear\" — shirts, trousers, and even suits made from hardy materials and worn by blue collar workers through the middle of the 20th century. These pieces were lived in by the people who wore them, developing a unique character over time that Monad London manage to reproduce and reimagine.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe Stefan Jacket is the showstopper piece this time around, with only two of these made total. Conceptually, this is one of the coolest jackets we've ever seen, an makes for a compelling twist on the style — cut as a single rider, this \"motorcycle jacket\" is made from an African bark cloth instead of leather, for a uniquely vegan take on the silhouette. It's cut with three pockets, two velvet-lined hand pockets for warmth and a single chest pocket. The front features a two-way zipper, so you can stay warm and perfect your jacket's outline whether you're sitting or standing.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThough it sounds like something only possible through the use of large machines and factory labor, the making of barkcloth has been a Ugandan cultural practice for hundreds of years. It's a slow and strenuous process that uses the inner bark of the Mutuba tree, harvested during the wet season and then processed into a \"fabric\" by beating it thin with wooden mallets. This process isn't perfect, and can easily crack or puncture the cloth, making patchwork and mending details an essential aspect of the finished product. As a result, no two bolts of any cloth are the same, with textural and tonal variety throughout, as well as the different repairs and imperfections present across every panel.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe color of this run is also unique, coming from an experimental mud-dyeing process that gives the finished fabric an incredibly complex and varied tonal appearance. The natural dye is just one more layer on this incredibly organic garment, and will age with it, as the brown finish fades and weathers across the face of the jacket as you wear it. The inside of the jacket is also lined in a silky smooth and soft bemberg cupro, making layering easy as it glides over other fabrics, and keeping you comfortable while it separates your bare skin from the bare barkcloth.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eFits true to size.
