Based out of Japan's Iwate Prefecture, one of the northernmost provinces, Gorsch (the brand) was born into a quiet rural life, taking inspiration from antique German tailoring and early proto-workwear. Produced in highly limited quantities, their garments are beautifully constructed, frequently making use of deadstock vintage textiles, with tailored silhouettes and unisex styling.
The Spring/Summer '25 collection takes inspiration from a variety of sources: the designer's artist friends, Buddhist concepts of spontaneity, and the turning of the weather as things get warmer. The cuts are breezy and relaxed, with drape and airflow prioritized for maximum comfort, and a really fantastic color palette that shows off the various fabrics.
Gorsch's Easy Trousers are among our very favorite takes on the style, with an elasticated drawstring waistband and a one-size design that make them a quintessential unisex piece. They've got a relaxed fit, with a wide leg that tapers a tiny bit below the knee, a high rise, and a slightly dropped crotch with circular reinforcements at the inner thigh. The construction blends minimalism with thoughtful details, like the single "belt loop" on the front that a keychain could be attached to, the cotton and cupra internal linings, and the pull-on top block with no fly.
For storage, they've got a classic four pockets, two at the hips for your hands, and two welted rear pockets with button closures. The pocket bags and waistband are lined with a soft 100% cotton fabric for extra comfort and durability, while the legs are unlined for extra airflow and breathability. The one-size waist measures fairly wide, but can be cinched in with the woven internal drawstring, allowing for a comfortable and secure fit at all times.
They're made from a super textured silk dupion fabric, a lightweight textile with an irregular weave and uneven hand that's still remarkably soft (thanks to being 100% pure silk). It's a very soft and airy fabric, with a drape that is structured but delicate, moving similarly to gauze or net fabrics as air slowly filters through the weave.
