One of the best vacation shirts we've had the pleasure of handling, the Saya Travel Shirt is the obvious (but non-mandatory) companion of the Saya Adjustable Waist Trousers.
The fabric is a custom chambray, developed for Black Sign and composed of 65% cotton & 35% linen yarns. It's sturdy, with a softer-than-average hand for a chambray and a more fluid drape (as would be expected of a linen fabric). Also, as is characteristic of both linen and chambray, the fabric breathes well in hot weather.
The surface of the fabric features a modified Saya pattern done in dot form. This pattern originated during and has been passed down since the Japanese Edo period (1603 - 1868), and represents a wish for "uninterrupted longevity and prosperity". This pattern is very subtle, and only becomes fully apparent up close - visually reading as solidly black from afar.
Cut with a relaxed fit, pointed collar, and large tonal buttons up the front, it also features two patch hand pockets just above the hem, giving you welcome storage for all your favorite shells or loose change.
