The Garden Pants are everything we've ever wanted while gardening. For the design, we drew inspiration from historical workwear, our own experiences in the garden, and Elliot's very specific instructions for how the double knee should look. Beyond that, these feature some subtle old school details like a continuous (one-piece) fly and split waist with 2-prong buckle back.
These are an easy, unisex fit featuring a relaxed top block with a high rise, athletic thighs and straight leg that's just the right balance of being not too slim or too wide. The pockets are spacious and easy to access, and both legs have tool loops and pockets for actual utility, like to hold tools and things.
The fabric, a 6.6oz Belgian Linen from a carbon-neutral Belgian Mill that holds the Masters of Linen certification, is made from long staple fibers, making it naturally wrinkle resistant and strong - it's also soft, sturdy, and never scratchy. As would be expected of a linen of this quality, it breathes and drapes extremely well too. Over time, the indigo will fade, rope, and crock, similar to what you would experience with an indigo denim.
The custom labels were designed by longtime Blluemade collaborator Tomo W. Adachi. The design was based on War Garden & Victory Garden posters from WWI and WWII (respectively). While the phrase at the bottom is a relevant spin on the Union motto "Labor is entitled to all it produces".
Fits true to size, but can be adjusted to fit slightly smaller with the buckle back. Blluemade recommends washing with LeBlanc linen wash and line drying.
