It would be difficult to find a more iconic or ubiquitous leather jacket silhouette than the D-pocket double rider. Originally debuting in the late 1920s, the design was perfected over the next few decades by brands like Buco, and made famous by Hollywood heartthrobs of the mid 20th century - imitations can be found virtually everywhere, from fast fashion to the runway and at all levels in between.
Y'2's 1930's Motorcycle Jacket is located at the intersection of quality and design, taking inspiration from the original generation of D-pockets, and expertly produced with the best materials available. Designed to last not just one, but several lifetimes, with precise, double-row stitching and heavy duty stainless steel hardware throughout.
The Eco Horse leather is no joke. This is a 1.8mm thick horsehide, based on racing leathers from the 1930s. It's tanned with an excess of oils, and then shrunken by about 20%, granting its additional thickness and stiffness. Over time, it will slowly break in and soften with wear, gradually easing into the shape of your body - but brand new it's the stiffest and heaviest jacket leather we've ever carried.
In addition to being nigh-impenetrable, the black Eco Horse leather is a real looker. Not as outwardly flashy as some other horsehides, it features a subtle and beautiful grain texture, with a moderate shine. The panels are large and chosen specifically for the smoothest finish and best looking grain, giving a very clean and cohesive finish to the simple, no-nonsense jacket pattern.
The fit is true to size, with an old-school 1930's style fit consisting of a roomy and slightly short (but not so much as to be considered "cropped") body. The front of the jacket features a half belt that can be used to adjust the fit through the waist, as well as a roomy D-pocket and hidden glasses pocket behind the front zipper. The collar snaps down in the classic double-rider lapel configuration, but can be worn up and closed with a hidden chin strap attachment for warmth and wind-resistance.
Inside, the body is lined with a 100% cotton brushed houndstooth flannel, and 100% nylon sleeve linings for easy layering. A single interior pocket gives you an additional spot for storage, perfect for squirreling away a wallet, smartphone, or some sort of lucky/magic crystal.
