    These are named for the folks who operated "steam donkeys", steam-driven winches used in logging at the end of the 19th century. The operators were known as "donkey punchers". 

    Nomenclature aside, when John Lofgren sets out to build a pair of boots, he builds the most comfortable, highest quality boot he can. All of the work is done in Japan from start to finish, using Horween Chromexcel leather, Vibram soles, and John's own custom last.

    We reference Brannock sizing for our footwear. The Brannock Device is the standard foot measuring tool for the world's footwear industry. Most better quality footwear stores will have one.

    Built on the John Lofgren 120 Last

    Choose 1 size smaller than your Brannock device size.

    Choose 0.5 size smaller than your Red Wing Iron Ranger or Alden Barrie last size.

    Choose the same size as your Viberg 2030 last size.

    These boots run quite wide. If you have narrow C-width feet, choose a half size smaller than our recommendation above.

    • Items that have been washed, hemmed, altered, excessively worn, set aflame or touched by a private equity firm cannot be returned.
