Samuel Zelig is a modern brand producing vintage-style garments, with a focus on what they call "uniform standards and closet essentials". Taking their inspiration from traditional American workwear styles, the designs are bolstered with French & Japanese manufacturing practices, tweaked to fit and move better without sacrificing durability or design.
The designs are highly customized, from embroidery to printwork, with unique washing and fading finishes to elevate each style well beyond its silhouette. The artwork and original designs adorning each piece from Samuel Zelig are created by designers Jonathan Levite and Melissa Marsella, changing each season and with each style.
Inspired by vintage knitwear from the 40s and 50s, their quarter zip knit features an oversized fit, with ribbing at the cuffs and hems, as well as a spread collar. Not content to stop at just a nice fit and solid construction, it's been elevated with custom running stitch and chainstitch embroidery and printed designs throughout.
The Circus Puppet 1/4 Zip takes its designs from circuses and traveling fairs. Made from a 15oz, 100% cotton heavyweight french terry cloth from Japan — the fabric is unbrushed on the inside, for a more dry and airy hand. The neck closes up with a brass Riri zipper, and the whole thing has been treated with a vintage wash to remove shrinkage and provide the knit with a unique "worn" tint.
The construction is solid, from the inset sleeves to the double-needle coverstitched seams and twill tape collar reinforcements, it's built to last a long time. Cut with a relaxed fit throughout the body, it's a slouchy and comfortable garment that layers well both under and over your other favorite pieces.
These run slightly large - if you're between sizes, we suggest taking the smaller of the two. Wash cold and dry flat.
