Not looking to simply capture some portion of the market or to produce for the sake of producing, Indi + Ash create extremely thoughtful garments, employing a variety of traditional techniques and reinvesting profit into the artisans responsible for their production, as well as the communities they live in. From hand-weaving to hand-knitting to hand-embroidery, traditional dyeing methods, and atelier-style production, they work to create truly unique and beautiful pieces that highlight the skill and history of the craftspeople who make them.
The Atelier Coat is Indi + Ash's ultimate piece of outerwear, with an elongated body, shawl collar, belted torso, and vented back. It's a perfect layering piece, with a roomy body and wide shoulders that fit easily over other knits and jackets, with a partial buggy lining for extra comfort and insulation. With an elegant, robe-like fit that can be adjusted with the included belt, it's a remarkably versatile and beautifully constructed garment.
The fabric is the real star here, handwoven with hand-spun 100% cotton yarns, it's an extremely textured and slubby herringbone with a soft hand and phenomenal drape. One set of yarns is dyed with iron, and the other with charcoal, resulting in an entirely natural dark gray/black combo with subtle tonal variance throughout. The low-tension hand weave gives the fabric its unique and uneven texture.
The whole thing closes up with tonal horn buttons that compliment the fabric in both color and texture. Two patch pockets sit on the front of the jacket above the hem, with a single chest pocket on the outside. The belt is cut long, and can be worn open thanks to the integrated belt loops around the torso, or fastened closed for a more refined silhouette.
True to size with a relaxed fit. Wash cold and hang dry.
