Since its founding 2001, designer Hiroki Nakamura's Visvim has built an extremely dedicated cult following. With a laser focus on crafting unique and high quality "future vintage" garments, Visvim has gained international acclaim over the past two decades for their unique perspective and exceptional design.
Not limited strictly to workwear or couture, they produce Folkwear, inspired by regional and historical manufacturing techniques from mud-dyeing to crocheting, with collections that build off of each previous year and develop holistically, season after season.
A Visvim staple, the slouchy dropped-shoulder hoodie, returning in one of their iconic fabric treatments. The knit is entirely mud-dyed, a unique and gorgeous method of naturally dyeing yarns with volcanic mud from the borders of rice fields. This entirely natural dyeing technique is only possible in a few places on Earth, where the soil texture, organic matter, and iron content are all just-so.
It's made from a 100% cotton knit, with a subtle and handsomely variated coloration that results from the natural mud dye. Exhibiting many differently saturated tones of brown and gray, the fabric will continue to fade and develop over time, building a unique patina from wear and washing. The inside is "lined" with a looped pile for extra softness, comfort, and warmth.
Like any good hoodie, it's also got a big kangaroo pocket across the front, as well as a rib knit hem and cuffs for extra security.
