Nigel Cabourn needs very little introduction, but deserves one nonetheless: having over 50 years experience designing and working in the menswear industry, with multiple decades-old brands and international stores with cult followings under his belt. His eponymous brand has a focus on practical and hard-wearing textiles from vintage workwear, producing inspired takes on classic military apparel from the last century.
These rugged trousers are inspired by a mix of the vintage military pants worn by elite Swiss and Swedish Alpine Troops in the 1940s and 50s. You can see the influence of these snowy troops in the adjustable leather cuff around the pant hem and copious pockets — including side-entry button closed pockets meant for extra security.
Made form 100% cotton canvas the Mountain Army Pants are certainly up for rugged conditions. As already mentioned, there are plenty of pockets to go around, including a small tool pocket on the leg and two front patch pockets with a rounded shape indicative of European military trousers of the era.
Towards the hem there is slight pleating that comes together at an adjustable cuff (meant to make a snug fit to keep heat in and snow out) with a leather and metal buckle.
True to size with a relaxed fit. Wash cold and hang dry.
